Can Your Cola Contain Cannabis Oil?
It’s a clear prospect, after reports that the giant beverage company is talking to the Canadian cannabis company about creating a wellness drink containing cannabidiol (CBD). Oil is a part of marijuana that does not produce high, but is believed to have anti-inflammatory properties and relieves pain.
Marijuana will become legal throughout Canada on October 17, and cannabis companies have recently come to the country to raise funds and start their businesses there, according to the Associated Press.
Although Coca-Cola did not confirm the report, it said it expected a possible new segment of the beverage market, the Associated Press reported.
“Along with many other companies involved in the beverage industry, we are closely monitoring the growth of non-psychotropic CBD as a component of healthy health beverages worldwide,” said Kent Landströld, Coca-Cola spokesperson.
The telecommunications service pointed out that Coca-Cola’s attention points to the growing acceptance of cannabis by existing companies and the importance of Canada in the development of these companies.
Constellation Brands, a major corporation that makes Corona beer, recently purchased a minority stake in Canopy Growth, a Canadian producer of medical marijuana.
